A growing Architecture Firm is seeking a Controller to manage the firms Finance and Accounting Department in their Boston office. This position will manage the overall workflow, operation, and direction of the Accounting Department. This integral role reports directly into the VP of Corporate Administration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain documented systems of internal accounting policies, procedures, controls, compliance and financial reporting that are efficient and that also maintain a high level of accuracy.
- Manage the company’s financial operations including; accounts payable, accounts receivable, job cost accounting, general ledger accounts and payroll.
- Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Contribute to the financial planning process with forward looking suggestions for performance improvement as well as risk mitigation.
- Manage the flow of financial information between accounting and project management platforms.
- Oversee forecasting system including budget uploads, and monthly projections.
- Produce monthly financial statements including Work-In-Process, Income Statement and General Ledger.
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
- Manage compliance with state tax requirements (includes tax exempt jobs).
- Supervise daily banking requirements including cash flow, positive pay transactions and company credit cards.
- Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
- Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
- Coordinate performance reviews and address personnel issues relating to accounting staff.
- Collaborate with other department managers to support overall company goals and
objectives.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s in accounting or finance; MBA or CPA a plus.
- 7-10 years of accounting experience with at least 2 years in a leadership position.
- At least 2 years of experience working in the architecture industry.
- Proficiency with accounting programs and software; experience with Spectrum accounting software and Procore management software a plus.
- Strong communication skills and capable of communicating effectively with all departments.
- Ability to focus on strict deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced, high volume
environment. - Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented.
- Positive working attitude and strong work ethic.
COMPENSATION: $160k
